Nice and easy, I just wish that the Qt folks would make this uninstaller easy to find so we wouldn’t have to waste so much time. Success! Its a bit slow, but its not really an issue since you can do something else while this Python script cleans up the mess left behind by the Qt installer. If you installed Qt via mpkg (versus building from source), you can try to run the Qt Uninstall script Lust as I was starting the laboriously tedious process of having to go through my system and find all the loose files, everywhere, I had a bit of luck and found this:

Yes, I know that Qt 5 has an uninstaller function (its about time) but Qt 4 (and even Qt 3) are the most used for any Linux programs that you are likely to be interested in, at this moment in time, and they don’t have an uninstaller at all. I just wanted a simple way to clean it up and get it out of my system.Īfter extensive searching and scouring the Qt website I came to the conclusion the there was no simple uninstaller and that I would have to tediously trudge through dozens of directories on my system and one by one delete everything that the Qt installer littered all over my system. Unlike Mac applications that can contain all their resources in the app package and can de uninstalled by simply dragging it to the trash, Qt has innumerable files strewn all over the operating system. The Linux program turned out to be a disappointment so I deleted it and found that although Qt has a nice installer (or you can build it from source), that there was no obvious way to de-install it. Qt is an interesting environment and I found myself installing it so I could compile and run an esoteric Linux program on my Mac (Mountain Lion).
